The Covenant Path

Growing in Your Covenant relationship with God and increasing your access to His power

"And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory" (1 Nephi 14:14).

"President Russell M. Nelson often refers to the plan of salvation as the 'covenant path' that 'leads us back to [God]' and 'is all about our relationship with God.' He teaches about the significance of covenants in our temple ceremonies and urges us to see the end from the beginning and to 'think celestial'" (Dallin H. Oaks, "Covenants and Responsibilities," general conference, April 2024).

"The temple lies at the center of strengthening our faith and spiritual fortitude because the Savior and His doctrine are the very heart of the temple. Everything taught in the temple, through instruction and through the Spirit, increases our understanding of Jesus Christ. His essential ordinances bind us to Him through sacred priesthood covenants" (Russell M. Nelson, “The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation,” Liahona, Nov. 2021, 93–94).

"There is no limit to the Savior’s capacity to help you. His incomprehensible suffering in Gethsemane and on Calvary was for you! His infinite Atonement is for you!

I urge you to devote time each week—for the rest of your life—to increase your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ" (Russell M. Nelson, "The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again," general conference, October 2024).

"It is incumbent upon us that we do much more to help our people understand the power of covenants. Making covenants with God is one of the greatest privileges our Heavenly Father and His Son give to us in this mortal life. We need to prepare our people much better for the transcendent blessings of the temple by helping them to understand the covenants or promises to God that they make there and the potential blessings associated with those covenants.

"The moral and spiritual power that our people need right now and for the days ahead is the power of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. We gain access to Their power by making and keeping covenants with Them.

"Be more intentional in teaching members about the power of making and keeping covenants. Assist more diligently those who are preparing to receive their endowment. Help others place the emphasis on the endowment of power and knowledge we receive in the temple, and on the sacred sealing covenant—rather than on wedding receptions or mission calls or temple furnishings" (Russell M. Nelson, "The Power of Keeping Covenants," general conference leadership meeting, April 2024).

"Members should prepare themselves spiritually to receive temple ordinances and to make and honor temple covenants.

"Parents have the primary responsibility to help their children prepare to receive temple ordinances. Stake and ward leaders, ministering brothers and sisters, and extended family members support parents in this role...
